The Law of God is written deep into all His creation – everything will bring forth of its kind (Genesis 1:11). That principle explains the continuing degeneration of modern western Christianity where the character of the gathering is social rather than spiritual.
More than twenty-five years ago, the Berlin Wall came down and Eastern Europe was suddenly opened up to the West; armies of “missionaries” and “evangelists” flooded in from the West, from Churches that had long ago lost every last vestige of spiritual fire and moral energy. Alas, all they did was transplant themselves and reproduce the same brand of wishy-washy, noisome and worldly religion that bears such eloquent testimony to the apostasy of western Christianity.
The fact is, the only thing of value we can reproduce and convey to others is what we have of our personal relationship with Christ Jesus and this, in the final analysis, is all that is worth giving or receiving. What else can save us from the disapprobation of God? Can wealth, family, loved ones, material comfort or the “pleasures of this life”? Of course not!
Only Christ can help us and that has been the case for mankind since the Fall. But He does not force Himself upon us; He does not break down the door; what He does is stand at the door and knock, but it is the believer who has to open the door for Him, and let Him in to rule in the deepest recesses of our soul; not once, not twice, but daily and even hourly. If we do that, He will accomplish such an alteration in our nature and character that others will be drawn to seek what we have.
