Looking far into the future under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, over three thousand years ago, King David had this to say;

“The kings of the earth made ready and the rulers gathered themselves together against Jehovah, and against His Christ, saying; “Let us break their bonds and throw off their yoke” (Psalm 2:2-3). “Yoke” is the Greek zulon and figuratively refers to any burden bringing requirements or obligations.

We are privileged, in this age, to be witnesses of the fulfillment of this prophecy; during the last fifty years, the rulers of this world have relentlessly cast off every social and cultural principle that derives from our Christian heritage. And this has happened while the Church has stood by. Far from being watchful, as Jesus commanded, this generation, like the disciples in the Garden of Gethsemane, have succumbed to a spirit of slumber; it has turned its eyes inward instead of outward. The damage has been done and will not be easily undone; future generations will look back and be amazed that this was allowed to happen.

It began with feminism, which is Newspeak for the masculinisation of women.

Feminism is based upon “the doctrine of no restraint”; that is, women are free to do whatever they desire without the necessity of facing any consequences. Thus, women are “liberated” from the “bondages” of motherhood and wifedom; they are free to enjoy the same degree of wickedness that godless men have always enjoyed.

It must be said that feminism is the fruit of godless patriarchy, that is, the exercise of that patriarchal authority set forth in the Word of God, but by men who themselves are not yielded to the authority and Lordship of Christ. As a result, what was meant to be a beneficial service to women became instead, an oppressive burden; instead of being loved and cared for, women were neglected and abused. It was this condition, widely experienced by women, both believers and unbelievers, that provided the fertile breeding ground for the incubation and dissemination of the feminist bacillus, a latter day extension of the doctrine of ME, which first appeared in the Garden.

Feminism asserts that women have complete control over their own lives and bodies without any responsibility whatsoever to anyone else; it claims complete autonomy; it is the incorporation of the “ME” principle in women. Thus, the earliest manifestation of this feminist spirit was to be found in the acceptance of adultery and fornication. It was followed soon after by the acceptance, and public funding, of abortion on demand, being a natural consequence of the notion that only a woman has any authority to say what is to happen to her body.

Following the acceptance of the feminist doctrine of self, the next “bondage” to be assaulted and overcome was homosexuality. Not being content with repealing the legal prohibition on homosexual acts, governments now regard homosexual relationships as equivalent to marriage between a man and a woman and our Parliaments are seeking to see that status enshrined in Law. This is happening, mind you, while many, and perhaps a majority, of members of some parliaments, claim to be Christians. Indeed, several notable parliamentarians, who are also in a homosexual “marriage”, are committed Church members.

The next assault on the social values that derive from Christianity will be on life itself. Abortion inevitably leads to euthanasia, that is, the legal killing of sick people by other people. The rationale for killing people in this way is much the same as for killing unborn babies; “Well, they’re not really human are they?” Many people with elderly relatives suffering from debilitating illnesses that must end in death, take the view that it is a kindness to put them out of their misery. This is how euthanasia began in Nazi Germany, but it ended with the deliberate and legal killing of people who were thought to have no social utility or value.

This is the world in which we live, where humanistic values and human reason have replaced the absolute authority of God and His Word. There is a reason for this; we are told to “be watchful” and the Church has not been watchful, embracing every fashion that comes along, irrespective of whether or not it complies with the Word. Thus, the Word has become largely irrelevant to the response of most Christians to changing social attitudes.

There is a concern these days amongst some Christians about the proposed alteration of the marriage act to include homosexual relationships; it is too late. For forty years, our schools have been brainwashing our children to accept a humanistic worldview that is at odds with a biblical worldview as expressed in the life of Christ Jesus; the latest “Safe Schools” programme being funded by government is an example; what it does is “groom” children towards taking an ungodly view of homosexuality, one which defies the Word of God.

Christians need to wake up from their religious slumber, come out and hear what God is saying to the Churches.

“The one having an ear, let him hear what the Spirit is saying to the Churches” (Revelation 3:6).
