The whole idea of God these days, seems to be very Ho Hum; it is as though Christians are bored with the very idea of God; it is scarcely possible in most places to get anyone to attend a meeting where the only attraction is God Himself!
Those professing faith in Christ must be lured to participation in Church activities with promised offerings of religious entertainment, movies, games refreshments and social chatter which mirrors that provided in the world. Sadly, it would never enter the heads of the victims of this fraudulent misrepresentation of the gathering of the mystical Body of Christ to the Head, that this is not what the Bible teaches, so widespread and accepted has this form of religious practice become.
The justification for this “golden calf” Christianity is that “we are growing”!
Growing in what? True discipleship? Self crucifixion? Knowledge of the ways of God? Absolute surrender to the Lordship of Christ? Obedience? Divine power? Holiness? Righteousness? Faithfulness?
Of course not; the measure of success in Christianity today is quantity, not quality.
This overlooks the fact that the scriptures repeatedly show that God’s faithful people are always a small remnant of those called, and are such as have a living, organic connection with Christ Jesus, who hear His voice and and follow His instructions.
The overarching strategy of Satan is to rob God’s people of the power that is available to them to become what Jesus Christ was during His carnality; faithful, righteous and holy. It was through these qualities that Jesus gained the power to wage warfare against the kingdom of darkness and its work in this world; it is only through these qualities that those who are called by His name can obtain like power to confront the work of evil that pervades the world in which we live.
The world, including the Christian world, looks to politicians to sort out the problems in society; but the present condition of the world is the result of politicians denying God and making decisions that arrogantly and contemptuously fly in the face of His Word; “There is no God”, they say. And, if they look at the Church, aren’t they justified in coming to that conclusion?
The average Christian is a feeble sort, and harmless enough; there is little to make Satan quake in his boots in modern Christianity. On the contrary, through the means of false teaching, or just plainly inadequate and unanointed teaching, or the discouragement that comes from the example of a Church clearly out of touch with Christ and His divine power, Satan has weakened the determination and resolution of Christians, rendered their convictions ineffective, and diverted the zeal and enthusiasm to hear and obey God which accompanied their new birth, into an apathetic tolerance of what has become modern Christianity; a pale and pathetic imitation of what Christ called Christians to be. Now they are little more than statistics that contribute financially to the upkeep of the religious institution.
The ills and misfortunes of our sick society can always be reversed, but only if we will take the way of the Lord Jesus Christ, whose victory was accomplished in the death of self; but too many have accepted the low-keyed Christian life as the normal one. That is all Satan wants. That will grind down our power, stunt our growth and render us completely harmless to the kingdom of darkness.
