“And the Spirit and the Bride are saying ‘Come!’ (imperative) and the one hearing said; ‘Come’! (Imperative); and the one thirsting comes and the one desiring took hold of the water of life without cost”. (Revelation 22:17).
Before anyone can come and drink of the water of life, there must be done in him a divine work that results in a consuming spiritual hunger. Modern Christianity teaches us that to come is a man’s choice, but it is not.
“The Spirit is the one giving life; the flesh profits nothing” John tells us (John 6:63).
Without that spiritual work, the eyes grow dim and the ears grow dull; the divine message of “the grace that was manifested to all men bringing salvation” (Titus 2: 11), becomes mere words that fail to stir the heart; few people today gather together in the house of God saying “Lord, I am ready to hear you speak and do what you say”.
But if God knows that your heartfelt intention is to hear and obey and worship Him with every part of your being then there is available to you not only His love and grace, but His Holy Spirit and His very presence to guide you and to lead you; this is the substance of His promise.
On my part there must be a determination to seek continually, to yield absolutely and to believe wholeheartedly; if I do that, my heart will become a shrine to the Lordship of Christ Jesus, a sanctuary in which there is unbroken communion with the Lord of Glory.
This is something that we should keep ever-present in our hearts and minds; heaven is a place of complete surrender of the will to the desires of God; and that is why it is heaven; it is the world of God’s obedient children.
