“…gird your minds for action…” (1 Peter 1:13).

“I will put My laws into their minds, (Hebrews 8:10).

“And the peace of God, … shall guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).

“…whose end is destruction, … who set their minds on earthly things (Philippians 3:19).

“……lest your minds should be led astray from the simplicity and purity that is in Christ” (2 Corinthians 11:3).

“… the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unfaithful” (2 Corinthians 4:4).

“…..those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh” (Romans 8:5).

“To the pure, all things are pure; but to those who are defiled and unfaithful, nothing is pure, but both their mind and their conscience are defiled” (Titus 1:15).

“Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth” (Colossians 3:2).

“Finally, brethren, as much as is truthful, as much honourable, as much righteous, as much holy, as much pleasing, as much worthy of praise, whatever is morally excellence and whatever is worthy of approval, let your mind dwell on these things” (Philippians 4:8).

“And be renewed in the spirit of your mind” (Ephesians 4:23).

“…but be transformed by the renewing of your mind” (Romans 12:2).

“….the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God” (Romans 8:7).

“For the mind set on the flesh is death” (Romans 8:6).

The thoughts that a man entertains in his mind go a long way to shaping the sort of person he becomes; it is for that reason that the Bible gives much attention to the need for the believer to have his mind sanctified by exerting some control and direction over his internal mental activity. This he must do by disciplining his thoughts and governing the things that he allows to enter his mind.

So important is our thought life to God that He expressly says that His new covenant, of which Christ Jesus is the mediator, amounts to God putting His laws into our minds (Hebrews 8:10). In other words, in the new covenant, God’s will and God’s ways are to become internalized in the thought processes of everyone called to salvation in Christ. Our thoughts not only reveal what we are, they are an indicator of what we will become.
