Man was made in the image of God.
We were made to communicate with angels and seraphim and with the Holy God who made them all. But man is now a fallen being who has left his place in the heavenly world and has plummeted down like a fallen star.
When we consider what we were made to be –eagles soaring in the heavenly places – and what we are – turkeys scratching around in the earth bound chook pen – we should weep with the shame of it.
The fall is so great and the superficiality of Christian faith today is such that the Christian hardly begins to comprehend the place from whence he came and what he was made to be.
Nothing will change until the people of God discern the true inwardness of God’s workings, and turn away from the preoccupation with outward religious manifestations, where they seek to copy that which only a Holy God can produce, and that only when His people obey the conditions of blessing.
God works from the midst of a Spirit filled people out upon the world; all who desire world-wide revival must themselves hasten the day by personally entering the crucified and Spirit filled life; there is no Pentecost without a preceding Calvary.
